Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Patient Advocate?

A patient advocate is an individual who supports your journey, helping you to navigate the many “systems” involved in care, ultimately with the goal of improving your child’s health and your entire family’s quality of life.

What are some of the services Empowered Medical Advocacy provides?

  • Simplifying complex medical diagnosis and “med speak”

How much do your services cost?

Our Services are very affordable and offered on a membership basis with the option to add on additional one-on-one consulting time with an advocate.  Thus, our First Steps Support and Membership starts at just $5 for the first month and then each month after is $15/month. For additional assistance, another option is our 30 minute mini-consults which are reasonably priced at $39.99/half hour.  Longer length consults with an advocate range from $85-$115/hour depending on the nature and complexity of the consult (please contact us for a quote).

How do I become a member?

You can join right here. Enter your information and credit card info and you will have immediate access to our “Members Only” content.

Do you provide medical advice?
We do NOT provide medical advice as it is not within the scope of our services.  We are NOT doctors or healthcare providers of medical treatment.  Speaking with your pediatrician or specialist is the preferred method for obtaining medical advice, clinical testing evaluation and treatment.

Are your fees covered by insurance?
Private professional advocacy fees are not covered by insurance.  The type of patient advocacy we provide is directed by you and for your family, keeping YOUR goals, desires and preferences in mind at all times. When patient advocates receive their compensation from other sources (insurance company, hospital, doctor’s office), there is an inherent conflict of interest because now that advocate must weigh the interest of one party (you and your child) against the interests of the other party (their employer), and unfortunately when those interests do not align, they are forced to make a decision that may not be in your favor.  Private professional advocates ALWAYS have your best interest in mind.

Why Should I Choose Empowered Medical Advocacy to assist my family?

When your child or loved one is struggling with their health, you need to focus on care and support for THEM.  Empowered Medical Advocacy allows you to do just that. We assist in researching treatments, providing education on testing,  preparing for appointments, obtaining laboratory records, investigating root causes,  and tracking data.  We can walk with on this journey and provide the support YOU need to obtain the best possible outcomes for your family.
